Adarsh Rehabilitation Centre

Adarsh rehabilitation centre was started in April 1998 for rehabilitation of children affected by Cerebral Palsy. Later, services for Autism, Down syndrome, Multiple Disability and Learning Disorder were included. Starting with merely 7 children, today it is giving therapy and academic training to over 500 persons with disabilities through its various projects.

Rehabilitation centre works from 10.00 a.m. up to 3.00 pm. Qualified Physiotherapists (11), Speech therapists (3), and Psychotherapists (3) One Occupational Therapist and 35 Special Educators attend to all these items of work. Children also attend music classes and Hydro therapy. The effort is to enable the children to get rehabilitated so that they are able to attend normal mainstream schools in the shortest possible time. That including those of the last year, around 86 children left us and are pursuing their studies in mainstream schools gives us the confidence that we are moving in the right direction.

Apart from therapy, we also impart Academic education under the Open Basic Education system of academic training for children who are not able to attend normal schools either due to severe disability, physical and /or mental, and need special attention. In fact, we have some children who have attended normal schools for some years and have come back to us being unable to continue there. Our aim is to mould these children to be independent in life. Apart from academic training, Vocational rehabilitation is also attempted for children at our centre. To enable the children to acquire computer related skills a computer lab with 6 computers with modifications to suit the special needs of the children has been set up.

The Rehabilitation centre is registered with General Education Department of Kerala Government under the Revised Persons with Disability Act, 2016
