What We Do

Adarsh Charitable Trust, known as Adarsh had its humble beginning with 7 differently abled children at a hired premise from June 1998  and came a long way of its  successful journey to earn its present status of one of the most sought after Centres of Excellence in the domain of training and rehabilitation of the differently abled persons in Kerala catering to more than 500 such persons towards hand holding them to the mainstream and lime light of life.

 In the last 25 years of its existence,  92  students left Adarsh to pursue their studies in mainstream schools, with their disability factor considerably reduced and confidence and social interaction ability levels noticeably built up. An encouraging factor in the growth pattern of Adarsh is the increased enrolment of young ones, below 6 years, every year. Today, out of around 280 children at its main rehabilitation centre, around 30 are under the care of “Early Intervention Group”. In the matter of rehabilitation, the earlier the intervention, the better.

Adarsh is a registered Trust bearing the registration number:  78/IV/98 dated 22.04.1998. It is also a NGO qualified and recognised by Income Tax Authority for IT exemption under section 80 (G) of IT Act. Adarsh is a fully competent  agency working in  the social sector eligible for undertaking any CSR Project or receiving CSR support especially for the welfare and developmental activities for the differently abled persons falling under Schedule VII of Companies Act 2013.Adarsh has a valid approval under FCRA to receive foreign contributions. It also possesses CSR Form 1 registration by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Adarsh is registered with the Benevity Portal (https://causes.benevity.org) and employees of certain corporates abroad can get matching donations from their employers if the donation is made through the Benevity Portal.

Management of Adarsh is safely vested with a team of dedicated and selfless members from the civil society. The Trust consists of 27 very active socially committed personalities drawn from the cross section of the society. For convenience of administration the Trustees play their rolls  as Office Bearers, Executive Committee Members, General Council Members etc. 

Adarsh is trusted by the like minded individuals, institutions, corporates etc world over who repose total confidence in it for appropriating their help for genuine causes.

Facilities wise, Adarsh has:

  • Its own Main Centre at Kureekad in Chottanikkara Panchayath in Ernakulam District where a Government recognised Special School for Differently Abled Students and related Rehabilitation Training Centre with state of the art equipment, systems and devices are housed. Currently there are 283 students and adults receiving training and engagement.
  • In addition it has an Early Development Evaluation, Intervention & Research Centre functioning in a rented premises at Vennala in Ernakulam District where 50-60 young ones are taken care.
  • Adarsh has a well run Home Based Rehabilitation Unit which caters to about 160 students who can not be brought to the Main Centre. Five HBR Teams visit these students at their homes three days in a week.
  • For safe and comfortable transportation of the students to the Centres, Adarsh has arranged 9 hired disabled access friendly mini buses. On an average 180 students are brought to the school every day.
  • For rendering life skills and developmental training wrapped with tender loving care, Adarsh has 138 professionally trained experienced staff @ 1:5 ratio which is perhaps the best in Kerala, if not pan India.
  • ACT started an exclusive vocational training centre with 13 different vocations including Bakery and Confectionary Unit, Vocational courses under NIOS etc for adult children with challenged named Adarsh Centre for Empowerment (ACE) at Udayamperoor.
