Adarsh Centre of Empowerment (ACE)

ACE is a dream project on the anvil of future projects of Adarsh. Under the existing Government regulations applicable to the recognised Special Schools, students above 18 years shall not be allowed. This restrictive condition poses severe challenges and stress more for the parents of such “over aged children” and for the students concerned themselves. Adarsh can not deprive them off their right of safe and comfortable living just on the basis of this highly restrictive Government orders. They have no place to go otherwise. With a view to mitigate this paradox, Adarsh is already providing vocational training opportunities for them in a limited way. We want to expand the same so that all those children who come out of the Special School training be accommodated for a fruitful vocational training in the selected trades and vocations suitable to them.

Indeed as a  Providential Interventions, an inspiring and role model parent of one of students at the Main Centre has graciously donated to Adarsh 20 cents of land with 12000 square feet super built up area in a pucca new building located at a vantage location i.e. by the side of Thrippunithura-Vaikom state high way at Udayamperoor, for starting the said Adarsh Centre of Empowerment for adult PWDs coming out of Adarsh Special School.

The ACE will have special vocational and rehabilitation training facilities for bakery and confectionary trade, food making trade, sanitary napkin making, paper bag making, candle making etc. The ACE is expected to be formally commissioned by the end of this financial year, 2020-21.

Very encouraging timely gesture from the Rotary International through Rotary Cochin Central Club in the form of monitory support of Rs 45 Lakhs towards powering this project is the yet another boon came from blues ! The project is going to be an template for convergence of social cause resources of the civil society and corporates. This social investment by the largest mankind service organisation in the world is indeed a shot in the arm of Adarsh !
